21 December 2017
I would like to thank all the poets, writers and storytellers who have so graciously supported the cherita since it first launched in June of this year. You have been unstinting in your support of this newbie and continue so to do, and my grateful thanks is river deep, mountain high [a motown fan never dies or grows old].
When 2017 bows out in ten days, seven editions of the journal with ten volumes in total will have appeared, to be followed swiftly by Edition 8 [our first for 2018] in the early new year– making eleven volumes of your timeless stories stored in the cherita library.
Your response to the print version of Edition 7 was overwhelmingly positive which has spurred me on to gradually convert all editions of the cherita into print books. I am also considering kindle versions for all the current flipbook versions of the journal.
As for my personal e-books, I have had numerous requests for me to convert these too into print books and I am in the process of looking into this, time permitting.
In closing, I would like to wish everyone a merry christmas, happy holidays and a peaceful and bountiful 2018.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have all been the brightest of stars.

EDITION SEVEN OF the cherita
NOW AVAILABLE IN PRINT
The current Edition Seven of the cherita is now available in book form on Amazon :
and
I deliberated long and hard on whether this should be a new direction for the journal before deciding to trial the idea with edition seven. If it is received favourably by our readers, then this will be the future for all forthcoming editions of the cherita. The flipbook however, will still be available for those of you who prefer to read the journal online. There will be some minor layout variations within the print version but essentially all cherita will still be one to a page for maximum stillness, allowing all your words and stories to b r e a t h e.
N.B. There are no images in the print version of the cherita.
There are also plans in the pipeline for me to gradually convert all earlier editions of the journal into print versions. This will very much depend on your feedback and my workload. Please therefore watch this space for further developments.
Do please let me have your comments about the print edition.
I welcome your continued support and look forward to reading all your untold stories.

a visit across decades
the 7th edition of ‘the cherita : your storybook journal’
Our December edition of the journal edited by ai li, has 77 fine cherita written by poets who hail from India, UK, USA, Singapore, West Africa, Canada and Australia. We are again showcasing a collaborative cherita between two poets. The flexibility of the cherita genre continues to surprise and amaze me. Thank you all for helping me celebrate its versatility.
Thank you too to everyone who made this edition possible by so generously contributing their fine cherita to this end of year edition.
I hope you will enjoy all the stories within as much as I have enjoyed collating and placing them where they not only shine, but also highlight the talents of their respective writers.

and so we danced and somewhere a carousel is the sixth edition of ‘the cherita : your storybook journal’, and the last edition to be edited by Larry Kimmel as he bows out as the cherita’s co-editor. Larry has collated two volumes for your enjoyment.
In ‘and so we danced’ you will find 45 new cherita by 26 poets from USA, England, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. ‘somewhere a carousel’ brings you 45 fresh cherita by 29 poets from USA, England, Canada, New Zealand Australia, Ghana, Trinidad and India. Altogether 90 cherita by 34 poets from nine countries.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Larry Kimmel again for the three editions he has helped to launch of the cherita, and for his invaluable help as co-editor, supporter, a patient listener but more importantly for his loyal friendship. I will miss him by my side.

I am more than sad to have to announce that due to unforeseen personal circumstances, Larry Kimmel will be stepping down as co-editor, and that the sixth edition of the cherita [#6, November 2017] will be the last edition to be edited by him. Larry and I have been kindred spirits, extremely close friends and writing partners for over twenty years and his departure will be of a great emotional loss to me. He tells me that his future plans will involve doing nothing but contemplating his navel and becoming a lotus eater. How could I possibly stand in his way of such enviable hedonistic ambitions? I wish him well. He will be sorely missed. Larry will always be cherita’s godfather and guardian angel and he has promised me that he will continue to keep a loving eye on both the cherita and myself. Bless him.
With Larry stepping down as co-editor, this means I will be taking on the cherita as its main and sole editor. Please will you therefore send all new submissions for the cherita to me for the foreseeable future. If you have already submitted cherita to Larry, please will you re-submit them to me for my consideration. I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Please read the revised submission guidelines on our website.

It is with sadness that we are announcing the departure of Michael H Lester, our Art Director, from the cherita.
We would like to wish him the very best for his new poetic journey and we would also like to thank him for everything he has helped us with, but more importantly, for his deep appreciation of the cherita form which resulted in the three of us coming together albeit for the briefest of interludes.
With Michael’s departure, we are sorry to have to inform you that the cherita will now no longer be accepting artwork submissions of any kind.
If you have submitted artwork to our outgoing art director prior to his departure, rest assured that Larry Kimmel, one of our two editors, will be responding to your submissions shortly.
We apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused.
As of now, please do not therefore submit any more artwork to the cherita.
Thank you.
